Linear And Non-linear Resistor

Linear And Non-linear Resistor

1) What is Linear Resistor?

=)  Linear Resistor is one which obeys ohm's law. The circuit which contains only linear component is called as Linear Resistor/Circuit.
The current passed through the circuit changes as applied voltage changes.

Example: Carbon Composition Resistors, Wire Wound Resistors, Thin Film Resistors, Thick Film Resistors

2) What is Non-linear Resistor?

=)  Non-linear Resistor is one which does not obeys ohm's law. The circuit in which the V/I characteristics is not linear is called as Non-linear Resistor/Circuit.
The current passed through the circuit does not changes as applied voltage changes.

Example: Thermisters, Varisters (VDR), Photo Resistor
